Angela Schottenhammer

   

Angela Schottenhammer, Sinologin und Historikerin, promovierte 1993 mit einer Studie zu songzeitlichen Grabinschriften (M.A. 1989 mit einer Analyse der literarischen Schriften Liao Moshas und deren Beurteilung während der Kulturrevolution) und habilitierte sich 2000 mit einer Untersuchung mit dem Titel Das songzeitliche Quanzhou im Spannungsfeld zwischen Zentralregierung und maritimem Handel. Unerwartete Konsequenzen des zentralstaatlichen Zugriffs auf den Reichtum einer Küstenregion. Sie lehrte an den Universitäten Würzburg, Leiden, Hamburg, München, Marburg, dem El Colegio de México und seit Oktober 2010 an der Universität Gent in Belgien.

Sie hat verschiedene renommierte Stipendien erhalten (u. a. ein Heisenberg Stipendium der DFG) und umfangreich publiziert zu Themen der chinesischen und ostasiatischen Wirtschafts-, Sozial- und Kulturgeschichte mit einem Schwerpunkt auf Chinas Außenbeziehungen, seiner Wirtschaftsgeschichte sowie Inschriften, insbesondere Grabinschriften. Sie ist Herausgeber des Online journals Crossroads - Studies on the History of Exchange Relations in the East Asian World, verlegt vom OSTASIEN Verlag, sowie der Reihe "East Asian Economic and Socio-cultural Studies" (Dongya jingji yu shehui wenhua luncong 東亞經濟與社會文化論叢) mit der Unterreihe "East Asian Maritime History", publiziert im Rahmen des Forschungsprojektes "Das Ostchinesische ‘Mittelmeer’, ca. 1500-1800: Eine neue Qualität in den Beziehungen seiner Anrainerstaaten", (cf. www.eamh.net), verlegt vom Harrassowitz Verlag.

Angela Schottenhammer obtained her Ph.D. in 1993 from Würzburg University, Germany, with a thesis on Song Period Tomb inscriptions (M.A. 1989 on Liao Mosha and the Cultural Revolution) and her Habilitation degree (post doctoral university professor teaching qualification) 2000 from Munich University with a thesis on "Song Time Quanzhou in a Conflict Situation Between Central Government and Maritime Trade: Unexpected Consequences of the Central Government’s Grasp for the Wealth of a Coastal Region".

In the course of her career Angela Schottenhammer has obtained many of the most competitive grants and scholarships (e.g. a Heisenberg Scholarship of the German Research Council, 2001-2002) and has widely published on China’s and East Asian economic, social, and cultural history, with a main focus on China’s foreign relations, economic history, and inscriptions, in particular tomb inscriptions. She is the editor of the Online journal Crossroads - Studies on the History of Exchange Relations in the East Asian World, published with the OSTASIEN Verlag, and of the series "East Asian Economic and Socio-cultural Studies" (Dongya jingji yu shehui wenhua luncong 東亞經濟與社會文化論叢) with its sub-series "East Asian Maritime History", published as part of the research project "The East Asian "Mediterranean", c. 1500-1800: A New Quality in the Development of its Neighbouring Countries"; (cf. www.eamh.net), with Harrassowitz Verlag.
